Making Choices for the Sake of Survival or Thriving

 

We make all these choices in our lives for the sake of survival.

On the one hand that’s what it’s about – surviving life.

But on the other hand, it’s about living our purpose, our passion our dreams.

How do we reconcile these two paths?

 

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;

 

Then took the other, as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim,

Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,

 

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,

I doubted if I should ever come back.

 

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

 

 

Are we blindly taking the most traveled path and missing all that lies on the less traveled one?

Is the less traveled path where we find our purpose our passion our dreams?

For me, the well-traveled path would be to give 100% of my focus to the needs of my family and by doing so put all of my plans and dreams on the back burner. The less traveled path would be to serve my family as much as I can but still hold on to my goals and squeeze in time daily for them and for me.

This time I will hold faith that the outcome of this crisis will be the one we all want and while supporting my family and keep the faith that my goals matter and I am better able to serve my family if I live with intention and hope for my dreams as well as theirs.
